Ray was born on December 31, 1952 to the late Raymond and Hope Sorensen of Portsmouth, VA. He was a successful businessman operating TEMSCO, Inc. for 27 years. He enjoyed surfing, fishing, and hunting which he shared with family and friends. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, and Knights of Columbus Council 418. Ray is survived by his loving wife Tilda of 36 years, and the legacy of their three sons Justin, Tyler (Jessica), and Logan. He is also survived by his sister Karen Sorensen Dixon and her three children, and extended family. He was a loving husband and father with a powerful laugh and a sparkle in his eye that always made you feel welcome. You could always find Ray on the sidelines of any game rooting his sons on to victory. He proudly saw all three of his sons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, and graduate from their respective universities. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 6 to 8 p. m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, Suffolk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of The Resurrection on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 1:00PM.
