Suffolk - Ronald Dean Simpson, 72, died Monday, January 20, 2014, after a long illness at home. 

Ron was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, the son of the late Reese and Lola Ridgeway Simpson. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of Vietnam serving as a Hospital Corpsman and Retired U. S. Army Sgt. as a Medic, Ron later work as an Optician at Walmart in Elizabeth City, NC. 

Survivors include his wife, Sharon D. Simpson; three children, Tammy Perry, Terry Simpson and Michele Mayo; a brother, Wayne Simpson, a sister, Alberta Hargens, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday , January 25, at 11 a. m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk, VA. Burial with Military Honor will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Condolences may be registered at bakerfoster.com.
