Edgar Simpson Obituary Edgar Abernathy Simpson, Jr. June 19, 1934 - April 21, 2024 Courtland - Edgar Abernathy Simpson, Jr., 89, passed away April 21, 2024 in his home with family by his side. Born in Milton, NC on June 19, 1934, he was a son of the late Edgar Abernathy Simpson, Sr. and Louise Ollis Simpson. He was also predeceased by a sister, Edna Lee Bryant, and two brothers, Warren and Bon Sorrells. Edgar was a veteran of the US Marines and the US Air Force with 22 years of service. He held a Doctorate Degree in Theology from Anderson Bible Institute and was a retired postman for the US Postal Service. Beyond his government service, Edgar had a passion for fishing that he often shared with his family and friends. Whether he was casting a line from the lake shore or out on the open ocean, the joy he found in fishing was contagious. Grandpa Ed or ‘Papa’ made many fishing memories with his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary Margaret Simpson; two sons, Tony Simpson and Chris Simpson; six grandchildren, Sarah, Deborah, Marlaena, Michael, Ian, and Christopher; and three great grandchildren, Ryen, Jahzara, and Meilani. A Funeral Service will be held at 3PM Friday, April 26, 2024 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Robert Carpenter officiating.
