David Scott Obituary David Scott Suffolk - David Scott, 53, passed away last Tuesday, February 11, 2014. He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Marie Scott; his only daughter, Jessica Scott; his mother, Linda Darner; and his loving sister, Lisa Blue. Born in Sewickley, PA, David grew up with a love for music, and learned to play many instruments, chief among them guitar and piano. He moved to Virginia in 1983, where he worked for 28 years as a welder at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and came to be known for his consistently excellent service and giving spirit. He had a thirst for knowledge in many subjects, reading books about history, physics, and musical theory, and was always willing to share his wisdom with anyone who asked. Dave mostly enjoyed quiet evenings at home with his family. He was enigmatically quiet but social, and he had many friends with whom he kept in touch regularly. Even though Dave had a gruff exterior, he was a kind person and wouldn't hesitate to help out a friend in need. Dave was often called on to help with everything from welding, to music, to just lending a hand. He will be remembered for the joy he brought to his friends and family through his music, his wisdom, and his selfless nature. We will miss you "Big Dave" Scott. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 21st at 6 p. m., at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk, VA.
