Obituary of Deborah Ellen Sartin 8 Nov 1956 - 12 Jun 2017 --------------------------------------------------------------------- TAWNEY, Deborah Ellen June 12, 2017 Deborah Ellen Tawney, 60, of Christiansburg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 12, 2017. She was preceded in death by her father, James A. Sartin; brother, Jamie Sartin; brother and sister-in-law, Donald 'Boo' and Deniese Tawney; and sister-in-law, Mary Reed. Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, ,; mother, Charlotte Sartin; daughter, Angela and Ronnie Worrell Jr.; son, William and Natasha Tawney III; 12 grandchildren; special niece, Amanda and Darell Conner; brother, Cleatis Sartin; sisters, Barbara Thompson, Lisa and Carlos Akers Jr., Rhonda and Darrell Jones; as well as brothers-in-law; sistersin-law; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; and her extended family at Virginia Tech Undergraduate Admissions Department. Debbie was a faithful member of Open Door Baptist Church for 33 years and had been with the Undergraduate Admissions at Virginia Tech for over 25 years. She enjoyed her career at Virginia Tech, her mission work through the Church, as well as the Sunday School class she taught. Debbie's life reflected her faith and love of people which was evident to all who came in contact with her. One of her other great joys was spending time with family and friends. She touched so many lives and will be missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow at 2 p.m. in 1 the Chapel, with Pastor Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
