Patrick Rothrock Obituary Patrick Andrew Rothrock March 24, 1941 - July 21, 2023 Norfolk - Patrick Andrew Rothrock, 82, passed away July 21, 2023. He was a native of Raleigh, NC and was a son of the late Thomas Hardy Rothrock and Ella Ruth Williams Rothrock. Pat had been a resident of Norfolk, VA for the last 58 years. Pat attended Campbell University to study horticulture and proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Norfolk Wholesale Floral and managed several Hardee’s locations. He retired as Maintenance Manager for Breezy Point Apartments in Norfolk. As a younger man, Pat loved throwing darts and bowling, excelling in both. He was the self-proclaimed backgammon champion at all the Johnson family events. Competition was always fierce. Pat’s love of horticulture was evident by the beautiful flowers he grew and the koi pond he designed for their back yard. He loved to tinker and always had a project or was working on a new design for just about anything. His impish smile/smirk and sparkling blue eyes were magnetic. No one was better at sarcastic humor or blonde jokes than Pat. The blonde jokes were usually good naturedly aimed at his sister-in-law, Joan Pavlina. His quick wit and comebacks were some of his most loved characteristics. Conversations with Pat were never dull. Pat was predeceased by his parents Thomas Hardy and Ruth Rothrock, a brother Thomas Hardy Rothrock, Jr. and a precious daughter, Kara Ruth Rothrock. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 57 years, Rachel Kay Johnson Rothrock, a brother, Herold Rothrock (Shannon), a sister, Sarah Rothrock Barbour, a sister-in-law, Joan Johnson Pavlina (Gene Edwards) and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held for the family at a later date.
