Barton Violet Rose Barton, 89, of Windsor, died Wednesday, 20 June 2001 in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Suffolk, she was the widow of Walter E. Barton Sr., and a daughter of the late Carlos F. Rose and Lillie Powell Rose. She was predeceased by three sisters, Daisy R. Salmon, Pansy R. Burns, and Marguerite R. Smith. She had retired from the Personnel Department at Planters after 28 years of service. She was a member of Windsor Baptist Church, its Class No. 3, formerly the L.T. Hall Bible Class. She was formerly a member of the Women's Missionary Union and the Women's Christian Temperance, Sedley Chapter. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy B. Harvell of Suffolk; a son and daughter in law, Walter E. Barton Jr. and Phyllis H. Barton of Sedley; a granddaughter, Nancy Anne B. Alstatt, and her husband, Jason W. Altstatt, of Sedley; a grandson, Phillip E. Barton of Sedley; two great grandchildren, Tyler W. Altstatt and Jillian Rose Altstatt of Sedley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday 23 June 2001 in Hill Funeral Home with Rev. David L. Johnson Sr., and her grandson, Phillip E. Barton, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
