Born in Norfolk, VA on November 10, 1921, he moved to Florida in 1948 with his wife Marie. He was retired from Nabisco after more than 30 years and was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Orlando. Ray was a longtime member of the Boy Scouts of America and was affectionately known as "Mr. R." He was selected for the Order of the Arrow and earned the prestigious Eagle rank. He was selected by the Scout Council to be awarded the Silver Beaver Award for his volunteer service to scouting for 25 years. His Explorer Scouts were invited to perform trapeze, high wire, and clown acts at the Florida Pavilion at the New York World's Fair in 1965. He was a Mason and active in the Taft community. He served as President of Take Action for Taft for a couple of years, President of the Taft Water Association for a couple of years, and was active in the Neighborhood Watch and Young at Heart programs. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marie of 60 years; sons Raymond E. Rogers III, Russell J. Rogers, and Ricky W. Rogers; daughters Annette R. Wade, Marion S. Holt, and Terry M. Rogers; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2004, at the Taft Community Center, 9450 S.
