Obituary of Stanley Leroy Rodgers Jr 22 MAR 1914 - 11 OCT 2005 RODGERS Stanley Leroy Jr. Stanley Leory Rodgers, Jr., 91, of Pulaski, Va., formerly a long time resident of Suffolk, Va., passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2005. Mr. Rodgers moved to Showalter Center in Blacksburg, Va. in 2001. A native of Portsmouth, Va., he retired after 32 years as a machinist for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Va. He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Beale Rodgers. He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church where he was a deacon and a member of the Baraca Class. He was also a member of the Suffolk Masonic Lodge #30 for 50 years. He was the son of the late, Novella Copeland Rodgers and Stanley Leroy Rodgers, Sr. Surviving family includes his son and daughter-in-law, H. Beale and Janet K. Rodgers of Radford, Va.; grandson, Shannon L. Rodgers of Radford, Va., Michael B. Cox Jr., Draper, Va., Jon Marc Cox, Barren Springs, Va.; granddaughter, Caroline Hickam, Savannah, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Liam Hickam, Mikayla, Meagan and Molly Cox; sister, Mildred R. Harrell of Suffolk, Va.; two special nieces, Genevieve Hewitt and Phyllis Garlic and their families. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Suffolk Christian Church. The Rev. Michael D. Halley will officiate. Friends may join the family Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at R.W. Baker Funeral Home. Interment will be in Somerton Friends Meeting Cemetery.
