WINDSOR - John Jethro Rhodes, 74, who retired in 1984 as superintendent of maintenance after 22 years with Isle of Wight County schools, died Thursday, Oct. 28. Mr. Rhodes was a member of Colosse Baptist Church. He was past president of Windsor Ruritan Club, past master of the Purdie Masonic Lodge 120 and a member of Woodmen of the World. He also retired as a self-employed mechanical repairman. 

Survived by his wife, Mary Frances Roberts Rhodes; two daughters, Mary Kathryn Vaughan of Newport News and Betty Jean Stephenson of Windsor; a son, John J. "Jay" Rhodes Jr. of Windsor; a brother, E. Marvin Rhodes of Windsor; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk.
