He was born October 2, 1932 in Ithaca, NY. He was the son of Jay M. Reynolds and Dorothy Martindale. He was predeceased by a brother John Reynolds and Kathy of Houston, TX and three sisters, Betty, Mary and Shirley. He was also predeceased by a sister-in-law Rosa Lane Barnes Kincaid and Ashby of Suffolk, VA, his mother-in-law Gwendolyn Berry Barnes and Richard H. Barnes, Sr. of Suffolk, VA. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 66 years, Bessie Barnes Reynolds, sons Michael Wayne Reynolds and Debbie of Wilkesboro, NC and Richard Mark Reynolds of Kill Devil Hills, NC. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Richard (Henry) Barnes, Jr. of Franklin, VA, sister-in-law Mary Lee Warren and Dean of Suffolk, VA, niece Karen Kincaid Dunn and Kenny of Chapel Hill, NC, nephew Charles Ashby Kincaid, Jr. and Reba of Suffolk, VA. Richard graduated from high school in Ithaca, NY and attended The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA and later graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Richard spent his career working for the US Postal Service in Suffolk, VA, Wilcox Travel Agency and Templeton Travel in Boone, NC, C.I. Travel Center both in Portsmouth, VA and Naples, FL and Boaters World in Venice, FL. Richard was a Navy Veteran and was enlisted from 1950-1959, stationed in Norfolk, VA and served during the Korean War. He loved his Country! Richard was a member of the Suffolk Ruritan Club, Boone Rotary Club, Boone Ski Club, FL CERT Team Disaster Relief and the NC OBX Ham Radio Club. He was also an assistant and head Coach for the Lions Little League Baseball Team in Boone, NC. He attended Bethlehem Christian Church in Suffolk, VA, he was a member of Boone United Methodist Church and Greenway Baptist Church in Boone, NC and Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Franklin, VA. Richard loved traveling, playing Bridge, dogs, working in his yard, the Beach and the Mountains, coastal fishing and boating, skiing, attending ASU football games, watching the Atlanta Braves, sharing stories about his travels, especially his mission trips to Cuba. But, most of all, he loved spending time with his Family and Friends!
