WILLIAM K. RAIFORD  

SUFFOLK - William Kenneth Raiford, 50, of the 3900 block of Breezeport Way, passed away on Saturday, 19 March 2011.  

A native of Portsmouth, he was born on 31 May 1960, to the late John and Erma Raiford. Bill was proud of his job as an electronics engineer with the government and had a passion for history, most specifically genealogy and the Civil War era. He enjoyed amateur radio. He was a member of the Southampton Historical Society, the Sons of Confederacy, the AARL (Amateur Radio Relay League), and Aldersgate United Methodist Church.  

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia Motley Raiford; a daughter, Ashlyn Raiford; four sons, Taylor, Brandon, Evan, and Bryce Raiford; a sister, Judy R. Pantelides and her husband, Thomas; and many other extended family and friends.  

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, 23 March 2011, in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4320 Bruce Rd., Chesapeake, 23321 by the Rev. Bob Weeks. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.  

The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel on Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust fund that is being set up for his children.
