MRS. MARY JANE UNDERWOOD  

Mrs. Mary Jane Underwood, widow of J. H. Underwood of Nansemond County, died about 9 o'clock last night [8 June 1914] at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. W. G. Collings, 1809 Granby Street, after a lingering illness, in the 77th year of her age.  

Mrs. Underwood is survived by four sons, Josephus S. Underwood of Exit, Va., Morgan L. Underwood of Suffolk; Cadwallder Underwood of Carrollton, Va., and Samuel H. Underwood of Norfolk; five daughters, Mrs. Horton of Crittenden, Va., Sorephine Brinkley of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. S. L. Knapp, Mrs. W. G. Collings and Miss Cleopatra Underwood, all of Norfolk.  

The funeral will be held at noon tomorrow [9 June 1914] at Oakland Church, Nansemond County. Services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Calvin S. Blackwell. Burial will be in Nansemond County.
