Leon Pittman Obituary Leon Rollison Pittman, Jr. January 19, 1949 - December 29, 2022 Franklin - Leon Rollison Pittman, Jr. 73, passed away on December 29, 2022 in his home with his family by his side. Born and raised in Southampton County, VA, he was the son of the late Leon Rollison "Boss" Pittman and Julia Bracey Pittman. He was predeceased by his brother, James Bracey "Jim" Pittman. Leon was a 1967 graduate of Franklin High School. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was retired from Union Camp Corporation/International Paper as a millwright. Leon was an avid gardener and was well known throughout the county and beyond for his art. You would always find him in his "Happy Place", his art studio. He was a member of Franklin Christian Church. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Bonnie Myers Pittman, who he loved dearly; sons Nicholas Lee Pittman (Sarah) and Joshua Warren Pittman; grandchildren Trevor Rollison Pittman, Brayden Pierce Pittman, Addison Mae Pittman; and sisters Judy Pittman Blythe, Beverly Pittman Hardison, and Becky Pittman Whitfield. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 2PM Monday, January 2, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Hyatt and Nic Pittman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Wanda Blythe, P. O. Box 1011, Franklin, VA 23851. The family would like to thank his sister, Judy Blythe for her love, support and for the many acts of kindness with transportation for treatment, food, and care, and also thanks to his long-time special friend, Jimmy Fowler, and the team from Amedisys Hospice.
