Portsmouth - Gary Palermo, 80, passed away October 2, 2013. 

Mr. Palermo, a native of Brooklyn-Queens, New York, was the son of the late Anthony and Jennie Z. Palermo. He retired as part owner of Great Expectations Hair Salon after 50 years in the cosmetology business. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection. 

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Libby Palermo; two sons, Anthony Palermo and wife Shelbie, and Raymond Palermo and wife Shana; five grandchildren, Connor, Nina, Brandi, Tonya, and Lance; a sister, Grace Robbins; and a niece Adreana. 

Friends may join the family Friday, Oct. 4, from 6 to 7:30 p. m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, Suffolk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a. m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Church of the Resurrection, 3501 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Following the burial, a reception will be held at the Church of the Resurrection. Condolences may be registered at www.bwfosterfuneralhome.com.
