James Mayo Owney 3 Nov 1881 - 18 Mar 1962 IVOR- James Mayo Owney, 80, died in a Newport News hospital Sunday after illness of 18 months. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of John T. and Mrs. Mattie Bristow Owney. He was a member of Rocky Hock Methodist Church. He was the widower of Mrs. Emma Johnson Owney and was a retired carpenter. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. P. P. Rolley and Mrs. Jesse 0. Gay of Waverly; three sons, Waverly H. of Smith, Joseph Wilson Owney of Ivor and James C. Owney of Waverly; a brother, Manaleus B. Owney of Norfolk; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, today at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. L. P. Bland of Wakefield Methodist Church the Rev. Bryan W.
