Ramon Owens Obituary Ramon "Ray" Morris Owens, Jr., 74, of Chesapeake, Va. passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023. Born in Richmond, Va. he was the son of the late Ramon Morris Owens, Sr. and Mildred Anne Sauvager Owens. Ray spent his life answering the call to serve. As a man of great faith, he was a minister of 45 years, serving in Ohio and Virginia. He received his undergrad from VCU located in Richmond, Va. and his masters in Louisville, KY from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Ray served his community well over the years. He had a heart for church discipleship and outreach. In his service to others he provided spiritual care as a hospice chaplain, enjoyed the church drama club, singing in the choir, and participating in Vacation Bible School. He was known for his laugh, to know him was to know his distinct laughter. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Pat Owens; children, Kimberly Hamilton (Marty), Tim Owens (Emalee), and Jonathan Owens (Lindsey); and grandchildren, Clayton Hamilton, Sydney Owens, Harper Owens, and Reece Owens. A memorial service officiated by Pastor and dear friend, Hank Brooks, will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 11:00 am with a reception to follow, at Coastal Community Church, 2800 S. Independence Blvd. Virginia Beach, VA. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Rocky Hock United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2745 White Marsh Rd. Wakefield, VA.
