James Ralph Nixon, formerly of Windsor, Va., passed away on Dec. 19, 2008 at the home of his daughter in Mobile, Ala. 

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery and there will be a reception at the church after the burial. He was a member of Colosse Baptist Church and retired as a farmer and shipping clerk for Vitex Corporation in Suffolk, VA. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Jeanette Hines Nixon. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Carol Nixon Woodard and James Allen Woodard of Mobile, AL; step-grandchildren Sean and Chad Woodard; and step-great-grandchildren Nikki and Tony Woodard.
