Newbern, 75, of Jarvisburg, father of Mrs. William A. Salmon, 2004 Pershing Street, died at the Albemarle Memorial Hospital in Elizabeth City yesterday morning at 11 o'clock after being a patient of the hospital for two weeks. He had been in declining health for more than two years. Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Salmon of Durham, Mrs. Tom C. of Sanford: three sons, R. A. Newbern of Raleigh, G. S. Newbern of Panama City, Fla., and J. E. Newbern of Jarvisburg; two sisters, Mrs. C. E Perkins of Elizabeth City Mrs. J. L. Gregory of Norfolk; and one brother, G. C. Newbern of Powell Point. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Mount Zion Church near Jarvisburg. Interment will be in the family cemetery.
