Charles Mason Obituary Wallace Mason October 24, 1924 - March 30, 2013 Charles Wallace Mason, 88, passed away March 30, 2013. He was born October 24, 1924 in Fairfield, Va., but lived his adult life in Franklin. He was a son of the late Charles R. and Eddy Duff Mason. He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and served faithfully as an usher and member of the Building and Grounds committee as long as his health permitted. When the congregation of the Franklin Presbyterian Church was attempting to construct their building, he volunteered many hours together with the members, friends and neighbors in the building of their church. He later learned that his name was placed in the cornerstone of the church. He served in the Virginia National Guard, 29th Infantry Division, 129th Artillery for 17 years. He was employed by S. W. Rawls, Inc. for over 40 years and will be remembered for his loyalty and dedication to the company and to two generations of the Rawls family. He was an avid quail hunter and had a great fondness for Brittany Spaniels. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Butler Mason; one son, Wallace Bruce Mason and his wife, Johnsie, of Winston-Salem, NC; one granddaughter, Katie Leigh Mason, of Charleston, SC; one grandson, James Hunter Mason, of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, Raymond E. Mason and his wife, Shirley; several nephews, and his very special nieces who lovingly encouraged and assisted him in so many ways. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at High Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Ashley officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
