Claudie Anne Hare Lee 1854 - 12 September 1933 Claudie Anne Lee Obituary Funeral services for Mrs. Claudie Anne Lee, highly esteemed and well loved member of Pine Street Baptist Church, who died at a local hospital early Tuesday night [12 September 1933] following a fall in her home on that afternoon which proved fatal, were conducted from the Pine Street Baptist church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon [15 September 1933] by the Rev. T. J. Johnson, pastor and other abled ministers. During the services the following hymns and solos were rendered: "Old Rugged Cross," "How Firm The Foundation," "In The Hour of Trial," "Going Home," "The Land Beyond The River," "Abide With Me," "I Have Done Some Good," and "Around The Great White Throne," were beautifully sung by Madam Alta Brown, Mr. Thomas Black, Miss Alverta Gilpin of Richmond and the church choir. Prayer by Mr. W. T. Wrench. Rev. Johnson drew a vivid and impressive picture of the great Christian character of the deceased, the diligency and the untiring effort of the deceased in her Christian life. The floral offerings were very numerous and beautiful. The casket bier was well covered with lilies and surrounded by many other beautiful flowers contributed by relatives and friends who loved and esteemed her. Active bearers were Messrs. J. F. Peele, Roland Harrison, Arthur Bernard, J. C. White, W. T. Wrench and E. L. H. Ranc. The honorary bearers were deaconesses of the church and a group of outstanding citizens of this city. Interment was made in a vault in the Oaklawn cemetery. The deceased was a honorary member of the Iris Art Club, also a stock-holder in the Crocker Undertaking Co., Inc. She Is survived by a devoted daughter, Mrs. Virginia E. Crocker, wife of W. H. Crocker and was the widow of the late Robert E. Lee. The funeral was under the direction of Jos.
