JAMES MARVIN LANGSTON, III  

GREENSBORO - Mr. James Marvin Langston, III, 58, of Greensboro, N.C., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, 24 May 2008, after a long courageous fight with kidney cancer.  

A celebration of life service for Jim will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, 30 May, at Summerfield Baptist Temple on Highway 220 in Summerfield.  

Jim was born on 25 November 1949, in Pinehurst, N.C., to James M. Langston, Jr. and Jane Whitlock Langston. He is a graduate of Bladensburg High School in Bladensburg, Md., and a class of 1972 Elon College graduate. His past employers include Grain Dealers Mutual, Penn National Insurance, Amerisure, and FCCI.  

Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved bass fishing. He was a member of Summerfield Baptist Temple.  

He is survived by his wife, Gay Gravley Langston of the home; parents, James and Jane Langston of Lillington, N.C.; sister, Linda "Chip" Tubbs and husband Richard of Orlando, Fla.; stepchildren Heather Hutchison and husband Andrew of Birmingham, Ala., Melissa Cokely and husband Drew of Birmingham, Ala., Maranda Petty and husband Ricky of Gibsonville, and Chris Yow and wife Sherri of Gibsonville. Jim was a special "Pappy" to Hunter and Logan Petty, Alex and Jenna Hutchison, and Mason Cokely. He is also survived by many other special family members and friends who meant so much to Jim over his lifetime and who have helped take care of him during his sickness.  

The family will receive friends at their residence and again following the service at the church.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research at 3 East Lancaster Avenue #414, Wynnewood, PA 19096 or www.alexslemonade.org or following the service at the lemonade stand set up at the church in honor of Jim.
