M. [23 Sep 1949] at the Joseph Bliley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Well known as a gifted poet since her youth, Mrs. Joyner died in a local hospital Wednesday [21 Sep 1949]. She was a member of the Poetry Society of Virginia, and many of her verses have been published from time to time in several anthologies and magazines. She was born Nov. 2, 1875, at Holland, Nansemond County, a daughter of the late William Turpin Holland Sr. and Mrs. Sarah C. A. Cross Holland. Her father was a member of an old Nansemond family and her mother of a prominent Isle of Wight County family.
