He was a retired railroad agent, having served 50 years with the Virginian and Norfolk and Western Railroad. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where he taught the Men's Bible Class for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Williams Joyner; one daughter, Mrs. Verlinda J. Snyder, Springfield, Va.; two sons, Sankey L. Joyner Jr., Emporia, Va., and Williams Alexander Joyner of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three grandchildren.
