Obituary of David Kinchen (Davie) Joyner 12 AUG 1871 - 19 APR 1945 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- David K. Joyner Suffolk, April 19. - David K. Joyner, 73, well known resident of Suffolk, died this morning [19 Apr 1945] at a local hospital, after many months of 111ness. He had been seriously ill one week. He was the son of the late Moses and Martha Lankford Joyner, of Southampton County, and is survived by Mrs. Sallie Daughtrey Joyner; two sons, Dr. Edward C. Joyner and William Joyner, Suffolk; a brother, Elihu Joyner, of New York City. For many years he was telegraph for the Seaboard Air Line operator: He was retired several years ago. He was a member of Main Street Methodist Church. The body was taken to the Funeral Home of I. O. Hill and Company where funeral services will be conducted Friday [20 Apr 1945] at 5 p. m., with Dr. A. L. Franklin, pastor, the Rev. Charles W. Jones, of the First Baptist Church, and the Rev. L. A. Haskell, of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
