CORBITT BURIED NEAR SUNBURY HOME Mrs. Permelia Corbitt, 70, widow of the late John R. Corbitt, of Sunbury, N.C., died Monday [7 March 1927] at the home of her stepson, J. E. Corbitt. She had been blind 27 years. She was a member of Damascus Christian Church. The funeral service was conducted Wednesday [9 March 1927] by Rev. I. W. Johnson, assisted by Rev. G. A. Pearce. Mrs. Corbitt is survived by the following sons and daughters: Otho Corbitt, Palm Beach, Fla.; Willie Corbitt, Jersey City, N.J.; Harry Corbitt, Newton, Va.; Miss Gladys Corbitt, Newport News, Va.; Mrs. L. C. Howell, Hilbury, N.C., and the following stepchildren: R. L. Corbitt, J. E. Corbitt, J. R. Corbitt, B. D. Corbitt, Mrs. D. R. Rountree, Mrs. Pattie Benton; one brother, Mr. Sam Jones, of Portsmouth. The body was buried in the family cemetery near Sunbury, N.C.
