Herman Louis Johnson 10 APR 1908 - 28 SEP 1943 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HERMAN JOHNSON KILLED IN WRECK Halifax County Man Killed When Car Collides with Truck Near Weldon ]] Weldon, Sept, 29.-Herman Johnson, 35 year old white man of the Rosemary section was killed instantly yesterday at the intersection of the highways near the Triangle Service Station four miles from here, when he drove his coupe into the back parked truck. Johnson's wife, Mrs. Willie Belle Johnson, who was riding with him, is in Roanoke Rapids Hospital suffering from injuries which are described as serious. It is alleged that the truck, which was owned by the Manchester Board and Paper Company of Roanoke Rapids, was parked 10 feet off the highway and the driver was asleep. It is further alleged that Johnson, who was traveling north, a fter ramming the truck in back end, travelled 68 yards, tearing down several signs before coming to a stop in front of the Triangle Service Station. His body was crushed and he died instantly. Surviving are his wife; his father, James F. Johnson, his stepmother, Mrs. Olia Johnson of Franklin, Va.; five sisters, Mrs. W. L. Pace of Roanoke Rapids, Hazel W. Johnson of Lawrenceville, Va. Mrs. Eliza Council end Evelyn Johnson of Franklin, Va., and Mrs. Christine Ricks of Norfolk, Va.; and five brothers, Roy Johnson, James F. Johnson and L. A. Johnson, all of Roanoke, Rapids, Jack Johnson and E. J. Johnson, both of Franklin. Funeral services were conducted from residence of his sister, Mrs. W. L.
