Charles Huband Obituary Charles Gary Huband, 73, passed away peacefully at home on December 4, 2021 surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Florayne Huband. A Proud Vietnam Veteran of the Marine Corps and Purple Heart recipient from combat-wounded service, his patriotism was known by all. Gary enjoyed professional photography for many years and took pride in his work. After 37 dedicated years, Gary retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, spending his retirement enjoying breakfasts with a close friend, watching Hokie football, and tinkering with the latest technologies. A loyal husband and loving father, he valued most the moments spent with family. Throughout his life, Gary devoted time volunteering and was involved in numerous organizations: Past President and Volunteer of the Year (1999) South Eastern Virginia Pop Warner Conference; Past Board/Coach Bennetts Creek Little League; Past Associate Bethel Guardian Jobs Daughter's Bethel 11, Past Patron Order of Eastern Star 149, American Legion Post 88, Lifetime Member of the VFW Post 2582, and 25-year member of the Masonic Lodge 178. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 49 years, Cathy Huband; daughter, Jennifer Huband; Sister-in-Law, Amy Jeannette; Niece, Suzanne Hyatt; First Cousins Joan Mayo, Dr. Joel Ashworth, and Joy Evans; Close Cousins and friends.
