Lizzie Howell dies; taught for 41 years  
Lizzie Watson Howell, a retired teacher in Southampton County, died Thursday 29 Apr 1993 in a Norfolk hospital. She was 87.  

Miss Howell taught for 41 years, first for two years in Henry County and then at the Boykins School, from which she retired in 1971.  

A Southampton native, she graduated from Mary Washington College. Miss Howell was a member of Courtland Baptist Church, where she participated with the Sebrell Bible Class. She also was a member of the Elizabeth Edwards Circle and Women's Missionary Union.  

Other community affiliations included the Keenagers Senior Citizens Group, the Christian Woman's Club, the Nottoway River Woman's Club, and the Franklin-Southampton Co. Retired Teachers' Association.  

There are no immediate survivors.  

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday 2 May 1993 at Courtland Baptist Church, with burial at Riverside Cemetery.
