Carr Walters, Oct. 19 - Mrs. Annie Tena Holland Carr, widow of Jesse Thomas Carr of Carrsville community, died at a Portsmouth hospital today after suffering ill health for many years. Mrs. Carr was a native of Nansemond County and daughter of the late Joseph Elijah and Emmaline Hedgepeth Holland. For the past eight years she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Fleetwood Baines, in Portsmouth. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Besides Mrs. Baines, she is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. S. A. Hines, of Walters; Mrs. Bradford L. Rountree, of Suffolk, and Mrs. Chesley Gwaltney, of Dundalk, Md.; one son, Jasper Carr, of Walters; eight grandchildren; seven sisters, Mrs. Mollie Carr and Mrs. Emma Hines, of Walters; Mrs. J. R. Cox, of Suffolk; Mrs. Bertha Copeland, Mrs. Vernon Butler and Mrs. Crawley Carr, all of Buckhorn and Mrs. Viola Jernigan, of Chuckatuck; one brother, J. R. Holland, of Whaleyville, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the funeral home of W. J. M. Holland and Sons, Franklin, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton and the Rev. Ellis Clark officiating. Interment will be in Beaver Dam Cemetery.
