Janetta Hill Obituary Janetta Messner Hill October 15, 1915 - February 12, 2013 Elizabeth City - Janetta Ruth Messner Hill, 97, formally of the Suffolk, VA area, passed away February 12, 2013 at Carolina House, Elizabeth City, NC. She was born on October 15, 1915 in Liberty, PA to Arthur and Florence Hyler Messner. She was a homemaker and served along side her deceased husband, Hershel Morton Hill in the Friends ministry for more than 70 years. Together they ministered in Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia. During that time she served as President of the NC United Society of Friends Women for a few years. After their retirement they did volunteer work at Obici Hospital and nursing homes in the Suffolk area. She is survived by a son, Robert Frederick Hill and wife Janie Stallings Hill of Knoxville, TN; a daughter Elsie Catharine Hill Pinkston and husband Lonnie of Ft. Pierce, FL; grandsons, Anthony Hill of Alexandria, VA, Jeffery Pinkston and wife Tammy of Port St. Lucie, FL; Randy Pinkston of Ft. Piece, FL; Craig Pinkston and wife Pat of Belgrade, MT; a granddaughter, Dawn Hill Beasley, of Maryville, TN; two great-grand children; a brother Frederick Messner of Williamsport, PA; sister-in-laws, Edith Bruner, of Warren, IL and Ruth Esther King of Greencastle, IN; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends whose lives she had touched through the years. Memorial services will be conducted by Pastors David Hobson and Richard Wilcox at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Up River Friends Meeting House, Belvidere, NC. Burial will be in the Up River Friends Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall after the graveside services.
