Kenneth Hemmings Obituary Kenneth Wayne Hemmings July 13, 1945 - February 17, 2024 Portsmouth - Kenneth Wayne Hemmings, 78, passed away on February 17, 2024 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Born in Buchanan County and raised in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Estel Norman Hemmings and Ruby Lee Webb Hemmings. He was also predeceased by a sister, Gay Beamon, and a brother, Danny Hemmings. Kenneth was a 1963 graduate of Craddock High School and was a retired US Air Force Master Sergeant. After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Sprinkle Masonry Company. He loved fishing. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lou Ellen Lowe Hemmings; four daughters, Theresa Ann Farley (Greg) of Virginia Beach, Delana Michele Doyle (Charlie) of Smithfield, Patricia Anne Childress (Todd) of Marathon, FL, and Texie Leigh Malota (Jeffery) of Portsmouth; two brothers, Fred Hemmings (Susan) of Florida and Eddie Hemmings (Faye) of Portsmouth; and seven grandchildren, Kenneth Bess, Cal Bess, Sarah Wilcoxson (Nich), Sadie Malota, Carley Childress, Max Childress, and Sam Malota. Burial with Full Military Honors will be held at 2PM Thursday, February 29, 2024 in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
