Richard Hedgepeth Obituary Richard Martin Hedgepeth November 20, 1969 - May 26, 2023 Chesterfield - Richard " Richie" Martin Hedgepeth, 53, passed away May 26, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family after a seven year battle with cancer. Richie was born in Portsmouth and grew up in Carrsville. He was a proud state employee for over 29 years and was a former Lieutenant for the Virginia Department of Corrections and he was recently retired as a Community Coordinator for the Department of Juvenile Justice. Richie was an avid Redskin fan, a professional thrift store king and dumpster diver. He would invite you over to his house and give you any of his treasures. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 15 years, Vicki Cook Hedgepeth, his parents, Tommy and Nancy Hedgepeth of Boaz, his son Jeremy Tyler Hedgepeth of Carrsville, a sister, Tonya H. Stuck (George) of Boaz, a niece, Chandler S. Cobb (Kyle), two nephews, Jason C. Stuck (Shannon) and Jordan M. Stuck (Danielle) and his uncle Toby Hedgepeth (Karen). A Graveside funeral will be held at 2 PM Thursday June 1, 2023 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd., Chesapeake, VA with Rev. William Fells officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday May 31, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home, 206 W. 4th Ave, Franklin, VA.
