SUFFOLK — Claudie L Hedgebeth, 83, of 888 Longstreet Lane, died Wednesday as a result of an accident.

Born in Isle of Wight County, he was a retired farmer and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and its Men's Bible Class. He also was a member of the Woodmen of the World, the Carrsville Ruritan Club and the Holland Hunt Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Dillon Sexton Hedgebeth; three daughters, Mrs. Odell H. Holland of Norfolk, Mrs. Eloise H. Vick of Leesburg, Fla., and Mrs. Doris H. Gomer of Suffolk; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Barbara S. Hasty of Carrsville and Mrs. Linda S. Pulley of Smithfield; one stepson, Roy Sexton of Williamsburg; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday in Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Carrsville, by the Rev. Richard Peerey and the Rev. Ed Thornton.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 tonight at Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home.
