He was a native of Nansemond County and lived here 20 years. He was a member of Fellowship, Baptist Church. Besides his widow and mother, surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Alfred H. Taplin of Norfolk, Mrs. Herbert Sharpless of Philadelphia and Mrs. James Cutrell of Madison, Wis.: two sons, Charles W. Hatfield and Thomas C. Hatfield of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Lee Barham of Florida and Mrs. Fenton Parker and Mrs. Preston Taylor of Norfolk: three: brothers, George H. Hatfield of Norfolk County, Charles M. Hatfield of Portsmouth and James C. Hatfield of Baltimore and 14 grandchildren. The body was taken to Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home.
