FRANKLIN. - Ashley Philip Hatfield, 73, of Route 1, died Wednesday [12 DEC 1979] in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Southampton County, he was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. 

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Katherine Forbes Hatfield; two sons, Alfred Lee Hatfield of Tabb and Willard Ray Hatfield of Mathews; a sister, Mrs. Lessie Hatfield Bailey of Como, N.C.; six grandchildren and a great grandchild. 

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday [15 DEC 1979] in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Willis H. Switzer. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
