Richard Thomas Harrison, 76, 1254 18th St., Newport News died Monday [19 October 1970] in Riverside Hospital after a short illness.

A native of Southampton County, he had been a Peninsula resident for 25 years, was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church and was a retired employee of the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John L. Garrett of Newport News; two sons, Charles William Harrison of York County and Richard Thomas Harrison Jr. of Santa Maria, Calif.; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today [21 October 1970] in Warwick Chapel of Peninsula Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday [21 October 1970] in Warwick Chapel of Peninsula Funeral Home by Dr. H. T. Stevens, pastor emeritus of Orcutt Baptist Church. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.
