Hancock, 75. resident of Suffolk or the past 18 years, died at the home of his son, M. T. Hancock. 419 West Washington street, today [6 Dec 1934], after long illness. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Mollie Joyner Hancock; four daughters, Mrs. R. L. MacClenny, of Franklin; Mrs. E. M. Lewis and Mrs. O. M. Bray, of Newport News; Mrs. T. F. Bassett, of Smithfield; three sons, R. L Hancock, Jr., and M. T. Hancock, of Suffolk, and J. R. Hancock, of Newport News; three brothers, A. J. Hancock and B. F. Hancock, of Sedley, and I. T. Hancock, of Rosemary, N. C.; two sisters, Mrs. W. H. Williams, of Ivor, and Mrs. J. W. Bradshaw, of Sedley; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the grave on the Courtland-Ivor highway in Southampton County on Friday afternoon [7 Dec 1934] at 8 o'clock, conducted by the Rev, Dr. John C. Truitt.
