Mrs. Lula W. Hancock FRANKLIN, Sept. 11 - Mrs. Lula Whitehead Hancock, 81, the Sedley Community, Southampton County, died early Wednesday morning at Raiford Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Benjamin Franklin Hancock and daughter of William A. and Martha Hundley Whitehead of Southampton County and a member of the Johnson Grove Christian Church. Surviving are five sons. H. P. Hancock, Benjamin F. Hancock Jr.. Ellis Hancock and W. B. Hancock, all of Sedley, and Rommie Hancock of Courtland; four daughters, Mrs. J. R. Vaughan of Lasker, N.C. Mrs. L. L. Mountcastle of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. G. L. Cooke of Portsmouth and Mrs. J. L. Spivey of Whittier, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. J. E. Butler of Franklin; two brothers, Levi Wellons of Sedley and Pressley Wellons of Franklin. The body was taken to the W. J. M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home in Franklin where funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. William A. Grissom, former pastor of Johnson Grove Christian Church, and the Rev. Mel Johnson, pastor of Sedley Methodist Church. Burial will be made in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley.
