Billy Gilpin Obituary

Billy A. Gilpin, Sr., 90, of Bluefield, WV, went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2024. He was the son of the late John L. Gilpin and Reddy Clendenin. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Vivian Carter Gilpin. 

Billy served in the U. S. Navy and retired after 25 years. He also retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a loving husband and father. He never knew a stranger. He was also an avid golfer with a unique swing. 

He is survived by his three children, Barbara G. Reynolds, Billy A. Gilpin, Jr. and his wife Debra, and Brenda G. Dusanic and her husband Robert; 3 grandchildren, Ryan Gilpin, Brandon Dusanic, and Jeremy Reynolds; 4 great grandchildren, Liam Dusanic, Kellyn Dusanic, Haley Oglesby, and Bristol Reynolds. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 12:30 PM at R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, North Suffolk Chapel, with burial to follow at Albert G. Horton Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 from 6-7:30 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.
