He was 86 years old. Mr. E.B., as he was known to many, was born September 25, 1893 in Southampton County. His parents, William Henry Gilmore and Elizabeth Bingham Gilmore, came to Southampton County from Southampton, England. A merchant, Mr. Gilmore was with Pender Grocery Company from 1920 until 1940. In 1940, he opened his own business known as Gilmore's Grocery and retired there in October, 1959. Mr. Gilmore was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, a Veteran of World War I. He was also a member of Pythian Lodge No. 51, of Franklin and a Veteran of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Annie Bradshaw Gilmore, of Franklin; two daughters, Ann Gilmore Brett, of Ashland, Ellen Gilmore McNeal, of Alexandria; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
