Allen Walter Gilmore, 77, of 412 East Constance Road, died from a heart attack today [06 November 1962] at 12:30 a.m. en route to Obici Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday [08 November 1962] at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church by the Rev. John C. Mitchell, pastor. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The body will be taken from the Hill Funeral Home to the church at 1 p.m.

A native of Southampton, England, he was a retired railroad car repairman having worked for the Virginian Railroad for 29 years retiring in 1932. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He and his parents, William H. and Elizabeth Bingham Gilmore came to America from Southampton, England when he was two years old and settled in Southampton County.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Berta Bradshaw Gilmore of the home, a sister, Mrs. J. E. Bradshaw of Nansemond County and a brother E. B. Gilmore of Franklin.

Funeral services for Allen Walter Gilmore, who died Tuesday [06 November 1962], were conducted Thursday [08 November 1962] afternoon at the First Baptist Church by the Rev. John C. Mitchell, pastor and the Rev. James H. Tate, pastor of Wilroy Baptist Church. Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Martin Bitter, Donald Kitchen, Ruben Bittle, Richard Britt, John Towe, Thurman White, H. C. Duke, Glasper Duck, J. D. Lankford, and Willie Lee Bradshaw.
