Funeral services will be conducted Thursday [08 November 1962] at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church by the Rev. John C. Mitchell, pastor. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The body will be taken from the Hill Funeral Home to the church at 1 p.m. A native of Southampton, England, he was a retired railroad car repairman having worked for the Virginian Railroad for 29 years retiring in 1932. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He and his parents, William H. and Elizabeth Bingham Gilmore came to America from Southampton, England when he was two years old and settled in Southampton County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Berta Bradshaw Gilmore of the home, a sister, Mrs. J. E. Bradshaw of Nansemond County and a brother E. B. Gilmore of Franklin.
