Obituary of William Benton Fowler 30 OCT 1919 - 20 FEB 1959 William Benton Fowler, 39, well-known resident of Camptown Community of Franklin, died Friday night, Feb. 20, in Raiford Memorial Hospital after an illness of several days. He was the son of Mrs. Ruth Snipes Fowler, and the late Hersey N. Fowler, Sr., of Franklin. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and its Men’s Class. He was an employee of the Union Bag-Camp Paper Corp. in the lumber division for the last 20 years. Surviving, besides his mother, are three brothers, Herbert Fowler and Hersey N. Fowler, Jr., both of Franklin, and Joseph Lee Fowler of Baltimore, Md., three sisters, Mrs. George H. Laffoon of Richmond, Miss Leila Mae Fowler of Franklin, and Mrs. Lyman Pierce, Jr., of Suffolk, one nephew and two nieces. Funeral services were conducted in the Holland Funeral Home chapel Monday [23 Feb 1959] at 2 p.m., by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church, and the Rev. Donald Dunlap, assistant pastor of the church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Fowler, John J. Magee, Jr., Lloyd Fowler, Carroll Fowler, Herman Harcum, J. W. Whitley.
