She was a loving and dedicated mother. There were no strangers to her, only friends she had not yet met. In 1978, she retired after 20 years of service from the reproduction department of the Newport News Shipyard. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church and a 57-year member of the Colonial Chapter No. 40, Order of the Eastern Star. Preceding her in rest were her husband, Alvah Sidney Moore; great-grandson, Taylor Reviea; and brother, James "Jim" Ferguson. Surviving members of the family include her son, Alvah Sidney Moore Jr. and wife, Audrey; daughters, Gwendolyn Moore and husband, T. Coleman; Peteti Walker and husband, Tommy; Tewathaw Reviea and husband, Bob; Vallee DeLong and husband, Cecil; 16 grandchildren; Thomas Coleman "TC" Moore Jr., Brenda A. Moore, Beverly O'Bryan, Sammy Walker II, M. Thomas "Buddy" Walker Jr., Glenn B. Walker, Arnold D. Walker, Herbert C. Mapes Jr., Anthony "Tony" Mapes, Michael M. Mapes, John DeLong, Robert "Bob" A. Reviea, Arthur B. Reviea, Thomas "Tommy" S. Reviea, Jeremy A. Moore, and Amanda I. Moore; and 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Emmaus Baptist Church with the Rev. Milford C. Rollins and Pastor H. Ben Topping Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home.
