Mr. Ferguson was born in Tazwell, VA and was a former resident of Virginia Beach. He was a son of the late James Garnet Ferguson and Mary Edith Sprinkle Ferguson. He was also predeceased by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Edmondson, a son, Charles Arthur Ferguson, Jr., a daughter Cindy Lou Merrick, and two brothers, Pete and Gene Ferguson. Gator was a US Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War and was a retired Electronic Technician for Ford Motor Company in Norfolk. He was a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge #151 AF and AM, Khedive Shriners in Chesapeake, Franklin Shriners Club and was a former director of the Horse Patrol Unit of Khedive Temple. Left to cherish his memory is a daughter, Julie F. Forrester and her husband Jeff of Wylie Texas, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lorene Smith of Winston Salem, and Ramona Murmillo of Virginia Beach. Services will be private.
