Walker NEWPORT NEWS - Norma Joyce Walker, 69, lifelong Peninsula resident, died Sunday, 14 January 1996. Mrs. Walker was a member of First Baptist Church, Altavista, Virginia. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Bible Society, Pocket Testament League, Boys Town, and Sabrine Missions. Survivors include her husband, Kenova Charlie Walker; two daughters, Ruby Boyd and Cindy D. Walker, both of Newport News; five sisters, Dorsey Beasley of Chesapeake, Louise Ward of Maryland, Doris Tolliver of Newport News, Essie Reese of Colonial Heights, Virginia, and Alma Nicholson of Texas; two brothers, Burwell Elston of Gloucester and Denmer Elston of Newport News; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Baldwin. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Peninsula Funeral Home by Rev. Elmer Hyde and Rev. Bill Holloway. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
