ALBEMARLE - Alfred Henry Ellington, Jr., born July 8, 1945 in Eden, North Carolina, passed away on August 14, 2016 in Palm Harbor, Florida at the age of 71. He is preceded by his father Alfred Henry Ellington, Sr., mother Lucy Elizabeth Ellington, sisters Peggy E. Hopkins, Barbara E. Carter, and Jean E. Robertson. He is survived by his wife Alice "Gay" W. Ellington, oldest son Alfred "Al" Henry Ellington III, his wife Cathy Ellington, youngest son Brian Thomas Ellington, his wife Moriah Beth Ellington, grandchildren Samuel Gray Ellington and Henry Quinn Ellington, niece Beth and nephews Randy, Sammy, Danny, Mark, Tyke Jr., Michael and their children. Alfred was a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina State with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1971. He is a 1963 graduate of Morehead High School in Eden, North Carolina. Alfred worked as managing electrical engineer at American Circuit Breaker in Albemarle, North Carolina from 1972 until his retirement. Alfred was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Alfred was a true patriarch for the Ellington family after the passing of his father in 1967. He was always a kindhearted gentleman to family and friends with lots of hugs and good advice. He will be sorely missed by all that were lucky to know him.
