Turner Instantly Killed on N. & W. Tracks at Suffolk. [Special to The Times-Dispatch.] SUFFOLK, VA., Nov. 16.–Mrs. J. S. Turner, a native of Franklin Va., now employed in Suffolk, was instantly killed tonight when the car in which she wan riding was struck by the Norfolk and Western eastbound train about 6 o'clock. Mrs. Turner was returning to her home in York Street from work, in a car driven by Willie Evans, colored. Oscar Holland, ten-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Holland, was also in the car. The watchman claims that he was on tho crossing, waving his lantern. As the Cannon Ball train came across the Wellon's Street crossing of the Norfolk and Western trains, the driver went on the track, His car being smashed into junk and Mrs. Turner thrown thirty feet in front of the train and mangled almost beyond recognition. Oscar Holland is at Virginia Hospital, Suffolk, suffering from severe scalp wounds, and Willie Evans is injured about the head. Mrs. Turner is survived by a younger brother, of Suffolk. Sam Dundalow. a mother, residing in Portsmouth, Va., and a brother living in Franklin. It is believed that the heavy rain falling at the time and the fact that the side curtains of the car were up and that the driver misunderstood the signals of the crossing watchman are responsible for the tragedy.
