DUKE, Elsie Roberts, 84, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2011 at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Forest Campus, Richmond, Va. 

Elsie was born in Windsor, Va. to the late Marnie Wills Roberts and John Goode Roberts. Mrs. Duke is survived by her daughters, Kay Duke Cappetta of Glen Allen, Va., Jane Duke Basinger and her husband, John of Rockville, Va.; and her son, Cecil Parker Duke Jr. of Glen Allen, Va. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory her granddaughters, Stephanie Cappetta Buchanan and her husband, Alex of Glen Allen, Va., Mary Basinger Pittard and her husband, Tom of South Boston, Va., Katie Basinger Gilman and her husband, Tom of Ashland, Va. Mrs. Duke is also survived by three great-grandaughters, Kayla Buchanan, Berkeley and Reagan Gilman; and one great-grandson, John Pittard. Mrs. Duke is the widow of the late Cecil Parker Duke Sr. who preceded her in death in March of 2000. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 31, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bliley's Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, Va., where a funeral service will be held for Mrs. Duke on Wednesday, June 1 at 2 p.m. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park in Richmond, Va.
