Madison Blount "Matt" Drewry, 88, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in a local hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of the late Harry Moss and Eunice Edwards Drewry and the widower of Lucille Story Drewry. Mr. Drewry was a member of Boykins United Methodist Church. He served more than 20 years on the Southampton County School Board and was a charter member and first president of Boykins Lions Club. He was a retired salesman for Conwood Corporation and a graduate of Oak Ridge Military School. 

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Matt Pridgen and her husband, Kenny, of Williamsburg; five grandchildren, Drewry Nash Fennell, Elisabeth F. Pontius, Anne Claud Claywell, Kenneth Lee Pridgen Jr. and Kathryn Alyson Pridgen; five great grandchildren; a niece, Carroll Paige Cappello, and a nephew, Arthur C. Brett Jr. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Rae Fennell, and a sister, Evelyn D. Brett. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday [17 October 2001] in Beechwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boykins Lions Club, P.O.
